At Ideation 2018, attendees will not only hear many compelling early stage biotech startup pitches, but will also learn about commercializing science from a leader in biotech. Two successful teams originated from MIT and Harvard, respectively, will also offer some specific advice on navigating resources for young entrepreneurs.
We are thrilled to announce the Ideation 2018 speakers:
Dr. Vicki Sato has shaped biotechnology in and beyond Boston through her leadership, teaching and advising. She has served as the VP of research at Biogen and the CSO and President of Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Bridging academia and industry, Dr. Sato was also a Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business school with a focus on biotechnology and a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. She is Chairman and Co-Founder of Vir Biotechnology, and serves as a current member of the Board of Directors at Bristol Myers Squibb Company, PerkinElmer Corporation, Borg Warner Corporation, Syros Pharmaceuticals, and Denali.
Disease Diagnostic Group
Disease Diagnostic Group is a medical device company focused on screening, tracking, and diagnosing highly infectious tropical diseases. Founded by John Lewandowski, an MIT PhD in mechanical engineering, DDG was the 2014 winner of the MIT $100K Launch competition. Among other notable awards, DDG was a USC Marshall Innovation winner, a MassChallenge diamond winner, as well as a MedTech Innovator Semi-finalist.
Confer Health aims to provide clinical-grade testing at home with a new diagnostic platform. The technology was inspired by the work of its co-founder and CEO Dr. Mounir Koussa, during his PhD at Harvard Medical School. Now venture-backed, the company received early support and funding from the MIT deltaV program at the Martin Trust Center.
